What do you get when you combine 450 discarded umbrellas found on the streets of New York City with 128 empty 2-liter soda bottles? Why, a beautiful floating sculpture of course. The brain child of architects Amanda Schachter and Alexander Levi, the Harvest Dome was constructed to represent the “physical revelation of the city’s accumulated water-borne debris.”
Built with the help of volunteers, Harvest Dome can be seen floating on the Harlem River through August 2013.
