While looking over the work of sculpture Tim Hawkinson, I found it difficult to pinpoint what the through line in his art was. Spanning years, his focus seems to shift and morph radically. According to his bio his “themes include his own body (although some of his work could be called self portraiture), music, and the passing of time, as well as his artistic engagement with material, technique, and process.” This is all true – but not entirely reflected in the pictures I found. I guess when you get down to it I just like, and am drawn in, by what I see. And isn’t that enough sometimes?
More of Hawkinson’s work after the jump.
New work by Tim Hawkinson will be on display at the Pace Gallery in NYC through June 29, 2013. See more of his work on their website HERE.
