The first, Illustration Friday, is for artists of all types* and skill levels. The concept is easy: Every Friday you are given a theme (chair, hate, love, ice cream) and you have one week to create a piece of art* that expresses that theme. Upload your work to the site to share with other artists. I can see this as a great tool for novices who need regular motivation to keep creating and for the more experienced artist who may want some directed exercises.
*Sadly, they don’t seem to show photography but any other medium seems to be fair game.
Website #2 is actually a section of the great Artist Trust site. Geared to Washington State artists who are looking to further their professional careers, the Career Training section is calender of events, workshops and other educational programs for artists of all types (including writers!). These courses are mostly held in Seattle, but they also have offerings in other PNW locales (Olympia, Friday Harbor, etc.) as well as webinars for the virtually inclined.
